RESEARCH ON PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES - A GOOD EXAMPLE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN MACEDONIA

In the frame of the interdisciplinary teachers-students-team workshop, in cooperation with Ass. Prof. G. Skodras of the department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia, the description of a "good example" introducing how the reuse of wasted materials might be used as a "new pedagogical approach" in non-formal and/or informal adult education contexts has been presented.
The title of the paper presented is "Conversion of wastes to Energy & Materials" and it's been prepared on purpose for the needs of the "Value of Wasted Materials" project. Ass. Prof. G. Skodras presented it during project partners' meeting in Kilkis on June 20th 2012.
The aims and the scope of the presentation are:
  • To reuse wastes by producing novel materials and by extracting energy, and;
  •  To prepare and test (in field) a generic modular training framework based on the principle of experience learning.

In the introduction of the presentation it is written:
  • In a knowledge based society life-long learning will be the ultimate challenge;
  • The modern globalised working environment necessitates vocational training;
  • Classic ways of training, based of the binary model of school-class or teacher-apprentice are either non-applicable or ineffective.

The teacher's acquaintance with the context of the "new pedagogical approach" takes place through 3 different paradigms from the sphere of "re-using of wasted materials", namely:

1st: Advances materials from waste tyres;

2nd: Waste wood utilisation for energy generation;

3rd: Biogas – Waste to Energy.
